BridgeFeeds

Specific Need

BridgeFeeds is experiencing rapid growth in Loudon County.

To meet our growth, we are in need of the donation and/or assistance:

1. Free or reduced fee on facility space in Ashburn or near surrounding area.  Due to our rapid growth, we are in need of larger space for operating our food disribution program.  We are also in need of additional warehouse/storage space for freezers, refrigerators to store frozen/fresh food, and storage racks for non-perishable food.

2. Board of Director opportunties for individuals with leadership and industry experience to help us achieve our mission, goals, and objectives.

3. Strategic partnerships with organizations (for-profit, non-profit, government, and businesses) to help us fight food hunger.

4. Financial support for our 2025 budget including staffing, operations, marketing, and programs.

5. Technology to help us streamline our operation specifically in the area of new recipient registration, communication, appointment RSVP, and tracking.

Mission

BridgeFeeds exists to provide food assistance to needy families in the Loudoun County area.  We do this by
creating a positive experience that promotes love, dignity, and hope for everyone.

Profile

Food insecurity is quickly becoming a rising issue in Loudoun County.  While Loudoun County has historically enjoyed recognition as one of the fastest growing and most prosperous regions in the United States, it is also experiencing similar issues with major regions in the nation including:
•Fast population growth.  According to the Census Bureau, Loudoun County's population grew 37% from the 315,486 in 2010 to 432,085 in 2022.
•Increased cost of living.  The cost-of-living index in Loudoun County was 147.9 in 2022, which was almost 50% higher than the national average of 100. Which means the total cost of housing, food, childcare, transportation, healthcare, taxes, and other necessities is 47.9% higher than the U.S.
average.
•According to Feeding America, food insecurity in Loudoun County rose from 4% in 2020 to 6.9% in 2022.  In addition, according to United For Alice, the number of households living at subsistence increased from 20% in 2020 to 24% in 2022. That translates to the number of households living in
subsistence rose from 28,000 to about 34,000 with the majority including children. The growing economic disparity impacts not only individuals and families in our community, but also our most vulnerable, including children who are the most at risk to food insecurity.

To address this growing crisis, BridgeFeeds has been on the frontline working to alleviate food insecurity through its food distribution program.
The BridgeFeeds weekly food assistance program focuses on helping to promote health and wellbeing.  BridgeFeeds provides food assistance to individuals and families with children in the Loudoun County.

Unlike some food pantries, BridgeFeeds do not require recipients to demonstrate financial need or be a resident of Loudoun County to receive food assistance. Our food distribution program is on Mondays from 6pm to 7pm, year round, including holidays.  Registered recipients can pick up a food box at our location in Ashburn Virginia.  As a result of our food distribution program, we have experienced 50% annual growth year after year since 2019.
