Goal: $15,000.00
Specific Need
Our specific need is to raise funds to spay neuter, vaccinate, microchip, and provide vet care for 500 community cats in 2024, and to rescue the kittens that were born outdoors in the wild.
Our goal is to humanely reduce the population of outdoor cats while improving the health and welfare of these community cats, and to reduce the number of feral cats being brought into animal shelters. We operate innovative programs for TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), community cat caregiver training, and we rescue and socialize kittens who are born outdoors so they can be adopted into forever homes as indoor pets.
We typically incur expenses of more than $125,000 per year for spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchips, and vet care for community cats and kittens. In addition we are first-responders for community members who contact us to request help for injured outdoor cats, and newborn or young kittens found outdoors in the wild.
Mission
To engage and empower our community to save the lives of community cats.
Profile
Loudoun Community Cat Coalition is a 100% volunteer organization. Our volunteers work to ensure that community cats (cats who live outdoors and are cared for by our community) are spayed or neutered to humanely reduce the outdoor cat population over time by preventing kittens from being born in the wild. We also respond to emergency calls to help community cats who are injured or need medical attention so they do not suffer. When tiny kittens are born oudoors we rescue them, bring them in for veterinary attention, and provide them with love and care through our Kitten Rescue foster program until they are adopted into a forever home.
We work as a Coalition, collaborating with other organizations and businesses to develop humane, innovative, and effective programs that not only stabilize and humanley reduce the outdoor cat popuation, but also to save the lives of community cats and kittens through timely access to medical care, effective kitten fostering, socialization, and adoption, and by providing training and access to resources so caregivers can be self-sufficient in providing quality care for community cats. We strive to create even more sustainable solutions with your help.
Your donations will help us fund spay/neuter clinics at local vet hospitals where we provide our community cat care package for stray or feral cats. The community cat care package we created is becoming an "industry standard" and is now the baseline for many TNR groups in Northern Virginia and beyond. The Community Cat Care package delivers spay/neuter surgery, rabies and feline distemper vaccinations, flea/tick/parasite treatment, treament for acute medical conditions, and a microchip so the cat can be returned home if it is ever brought to an animal shelter or vet. The cat's left ear-tip is clipped so everybody can see that the cat has been fixed and has a caregiver. Donations help cover the cost of these services for caregivers who can't afford regular veterinary surgery and would otherwise leave the cats intact, leading to continued breeding and more kittens being born in the wild.
Since we were founded in 2015, we have spayed or neutered more than 4500 cats and rescued more than 500 kittens through our TNR programs!
