Funds raised during Give Choose will be used to staff our ConnectLine, as well as to support our Volunteer Center Program. Through the helpline, Loudoun Cares helps our most vulnerable residents find the resources they need here in Loudoun County. We connect our families to local resources to include basic services (e.g., food, clothing, diaper, job service) and emergency financial assistance when they qualify. Program funds are needed to support our Resource Specialists as they help these residents navigate the resources here in Loudoun County.

Mission
Loudoun Cares (LC) serves County residents and nonprofits by pursuing our mission of “connecting those who serve with those in need.” Rarely do you find a true intermediary nonprofit organization that not only helps people in need find resources but also connects community residents that want to give back through volunteerism with the nonprofits that need support. Our ConnectLine and online Volunteer Center function as hubs connecting resources in Loudoun County. Our centralized systems help our constituents navigate the various programs and agencies that provide health and human services across the county. Also, we offer an online platform to highlight nonprofits needing support (e.g., health and human services, environmental, animals, education). Our nonprofit center houses several nonprofits providing reduced rent and shared resources. We deal in information, connections, and just-in-time service coordination, improving the quality and accessibility of community services in Loudoun.
Loudoun Cares envisions a future with compassionate engaged communities who are interconnected throughout the County, where every individual has access to the support, resources, and opportunities they need. LC embodies Collaboration - it was at the heart of our formation in 2002 and still remains among our core values today which also include Respect, Compassion, Stewardship, and Building Relations . These provide the guidepost for conducting our business across all program components.

Profile
Whether we are helping to connect a single mom with the support she needs to keep her family in their home or helping a group of concerned residents find a nonprofit to volunteer with, Loudoun Cares (LC) focuses on making things happen through a collaborative spirit. Here is how our programs are impacting our community:
- Eviction Assistance Program (EAP) - Loudou Cares took on the Interim Assistance for Eviction Filings program in November 2023 when noone else would. This program has helped families stay off eviction during Hyperthermia Season here in the county. Working alongside Legal Serivces of Northern Virginia, LC has helped 30 families with over $187K in assistance as of January 10, 2024.
- Covid 19: COVID19 caused the most trouble for those least able to afford it. It has been shown that our low income families were disproportionatly affected by the the COVID economic factors. This environment has added additional challenges relating, increased expenses, childcare and the ability to work outside of the home, especially for our single parents. Our families often struggle to meet basic expenses and feed their families; this has escalated due to the raising costs of living here in the county without increases in wages. At the start of the COVID19 crisis, LC partnered with Catholic Charities to establish the COVID19 Relieve Fund and Helpline. As of October 2021, LC took over exclusive operations of this program and added utility assistance to types of assistance already being provided. Since April 9, 2020, we have helped to distribute and secure over $2 million in rental and utilty assistance, keeping over 1,100 families in their homes and their lights on
- ConnectLine Assistance Program: Dialing 703-669-INFO (4636) connects residents in crisis with local resources. Callers are directed to providers that can assist with basic needs (e.g., financial, food, clothing, medical), job services, car repair, ESL classes, and more. Many of the households we work with cannot be helped through Community Services and other agencies or nonprofits, have exhausted those resources, or are only being partially helped. Finding these families programs and organizations willing to help aids them in avoiding or reducing the need for more costly and/or restrictive higher-level services.
- Volunteer Center: For the past 11 years, Loudoun Cares places needed volunteers into the ranks of more than 260 local charities through our online Volunteer Center (http://volunteer.loudouncares.org). By matching our county’s volunteer spirit and in-demand skillsets with nonprofit partners who could use assistance with a wide variety of tasks. Loudoun Cares annually unleashes a tidal wave of engagement. People GIVE when they SEE the NEED, and the Volunteer Center helps identify those needs to give people the opportunity to respond. The Volunteer Center is the ONLY online matching service exclusive to Loudoun County to turn the inclination to get involved into committed, lifelong service. Over the past two years, we matched over 4,700 volunteers with local nonprofits across Loudoun County. We honor these volunteers at our annual Outstanding Volunteer Awards; last year we recognized the service of more than 1,000 volunteers over 15 categories.
Loudoun Cares programs have positively impacted the health, welfare, and social engagement of Loudoun County for over 20 years. Thousands of individuals and families are receiving vital services. Hundreds of volunteers provide their time and talent, youth are inspired to serve their community, and nonprofits are working TOGETHER to make a difference.
We invite you to join our cause and help Loudoun Cares strengthen our community.
