Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department

Goal: $10,000.00

Specific Need

Funding is being requested by Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department to replace retiring Fire and Rescue Apparatus (Fire Trucks and Ambulances) as well as to support Recruitment and Retention of Firefighters, EMT's and Paramedics in an effort to continuing the professional services that we have been proud to provide to our community over the last 80 years.

Mission

The Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department (AVFRD) is committed to protecting the lives and property of Ashburn and Loudoun County residents and visitors by providing the best possible fire, rescue, emergency, and medical response services.  We pledge to perform our duty with courage and dedication.  We also strive to be active in our community and proactive with public education and prevention campaigns.

AVFRD has been serving the community since 1944.  Currently, AVFRD has approximately 200 active members.  We are your neighbors, friends, and co-workers; women and men; married and single.  We go to school or have full-time day jobs in a wide range of occupations.  But we share one professional goal – to be there when you need us.  Neighbors Helping Neighbors.

Profile

AVFRD is one of 16 independent, Volunteer Fire and Rescue Departments, that fall under the Loudoun County Combined Fire Rescue System. We own and maintain Station 6 and all the equipment that provides service in Stations 6 and 22.

Our volunteers respond to calls from Station 6 in Ashburn and Station 22 in Lansdowne. Whether it’s a medical emergency, a car accident, or a house fire, AVFRD answers your calls for help.  Through continuous education and training, we’re prepared when you need us.  We work to educate the public on fire and accident prevention.

AVFRD hosts multiple community activities – Community pancake breakfasts, Station Tours, Open House events, and our annual Santa Parade – as well as numerous fundraising events.  We also provide stand-by services at various community activities such as sporting events, races, parades, fairs, concerts, and fireworks displays. In addition, our Founders Hall is open to the public for use by rental or public events within the County.
