Specific Need
Thank you for considering a gift to the Hillsboro Preservation Foundation. Your gift will help us:
- Recognize the critical "legacy farms" remaining in active agricultural use or permanently preserved in conservation easements,
- Document our area's rich history and preserve its historic artifacts and stories,
- Create Hope's Garden, a public native-species garden park in Hillsboro,
- Support arts and cultural events for the extended community, and
- Support our neighbors in need.
Mission
The mission of the Hillsboro Preservation Foundation is to preserve, protect and honor the legacy and future of the greater Hillsboro region—its rural heritage, its iconic landscapes and farmlands, and the community and people who inhabit it.
Profile
The Hillsboro Preservation Foundation was formed in 2005 when plans for rampant development threatened some of the most historically important and environmentally sensitive farmland, forests, mountainsides, and open spaces in the Hillsboro area. Through organization advocacy and education, the HPF helped to forestall from development and ultimately protect hundreds of acres of land that has been placed into permanent conservation easements.
The Hillsboro Preservation Foundation's three key mission areas include:
LANDMARKS AND LANDSCAPES. The HPF continued during the past decade to be a leading advocate for preservation of the Hillsboro environs with Loudoun County, and by raising funds for the ongoing restoration and preservation area landmarks and the Hillsboro’s Old Stone School. Funds raised in 2024 will support the development and installation of Legacy Farm Markers to highlight the historic roots of Hillsboro, and the creation of Hope's Garden as a respite for reflection and the arts.
ARTS AND CULTURE. The HPF supports the arts and culture of the extended Hillsboro area to enhance our community through the Eat, Drink & Be Literary series, Music in the Gap summer concerts, Holiday Homes Tour and other events celebrating local artists.
NEIGHBORS IN NEED. Preserving community includes a commitment helping neighbors in need, by organizing relief events to help those in need, through organized area efforts in suport of the foodbank Mobile Hope, covid relief and other neighbor-supporting initiatives.
