America's Routes

Goal: $10,000.00

Specific Need

America's Routes is looking to fund the work of our small team — historians, preservationists, a photojournalist and journalist — to capture the historic value and beauty of Loudoun County's rural roads through photos, stories and programs that invite the public to appreciate and experience the nation's largest network of unpaved roads.  We are also working to have the road network placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Mission

America’s Routes wants to impassion people. To care about Loudoun County's rural roads, their history, their value. To appreciate their unique place in our world. To take action to preserve them, before they disappear.

Profile

There's never been a better time to appreciate the beauty and solitude of Loudoun County's rural roads. America's Routes is continuing to produce projects to illustrate why and how people can preserve these roads: publishing routes that invite people to experience the rural roads by foot, by horseback, by bike or by car; creating a gallery of photos and videos that capture the roads in four seasons; short stories of the people who traverse these dusty byways, and a website (AmericasRoutes.com) where the public can access all of the projects.  A traveling exhibit is making the rounds at local museums and events in Loudoun County, and work to have the road network placed on the National Register of Historic Places is ongoing.

Thank you for joining the cause!
